UTVs in different colors on dirt road
ROTR First Timer: Completely Unprepared typography
By Jason Huff
There was a slight breeze coming from the south and the sun was deciding whether or not it wanted to make an appearance as I pulled alongside a group of 20 or so trailers unloading all shapes and sizes of UTVs.

My heart was beginning to beat faster, and the butterflies in my stomach were fluttering like they used to when I was a small child.

As I parked and got ready to unload my side-by-side I began to have an overwhelming feeling of being completely unprepared for what I was about to do. This is the most vivid memory I have of the first time I went to Moab, UT, to experience the annual Rally on the Rocks.

I have driven UTVs many times before, but never on trails like this.

On May 17, I went on a guided trail ride on the Golden Spike Trail. The group I was with was amazing, the guide was very knowledgeable, and the scenery was beautiful.

For those of you who have not been to the Rally on the Rocks, I highly recommend experiencing this event. In our group, we had people with experience levels ranging from beginner to highly experienced. The atmosphere within the group was that of camaraderie, and there was an effort by all to ensure everyone completed the trail safely.

Overall, I had a great experience, and I look forward to attending again next year and hitting up a variety of trails. The event is well organized, and the event staff are very helpful and accommodating.

The next event is 11 months away so if I were you I would start planning your trip now.
