An IBEXX Project RZR Named Sully title

Most of us in the powersports industry don’t seem to ever get tired of looking/gawking/staring at project side-by-sides all the way from mild to wild.

One that caught our eye recently is a project build by American Falls, ID-based IBEXX. IBEXX specializes in all things clutching for side-by-sides and snowmobiles.

And since IBEXX is located (relatively-speaking) right down the road from Dirt Toys Magazine’s eastern Idaho offices, we made the drive to American Falls to see and ride in the IBEXX project RZR, known as Sully. Yes, that Sully from Monsters, Inc.

IBEXX started with a 2019 Polaris RZR XP Turbo and added a raft full of accessories but, for the most part, stayed with the already impressive performance of the RZR Turbo except for some clutching changes.

Here are most of the highlights on Sully. We say most because although it was mostly complete by the time we saw it, there were still four aftermarket pieces missing.

IBEXX went with the Assault Industries Hellfire Front Grill and Bomber Convex Center Mirror
Looking Forward And Back

IBEXX went with the Assault Industries Hellfire Front Grill and Bomber Convex Center Mirror, which give Sully a little bit of a snarl. In the photos you’ll notice a hole, which is where one of the missing aftermarket products—a lightbar—will go. It hadn’t arrived by the time we saw Sully. The grill, however, is made from high-strength aluminum and steel (vs. the stock plastic grill) and designed with aggressive (hence the name “Hellfire”) styling.

“We wanted that front grill because it has a spot for a light bar.” – Alex Klassen

The Bomber Convex Center Mirror from Assault Industries is a nice and functional addition to Sully. It definitely stands out.

SSV Works Kicker 5-Speaker Plug-And-Play Stereo system
Pump Up The Volume

If Sully’s looks don’t grab your attention, you’ll definitely hear Sully coming, thanks to the SSV Works Kicker 5-Speaker Plug-And-Play Stereo system. Klassen said one of the reasons they like the SSV Works system so much is it’s a true plug-and-play—no cutting, no crimping, no soldering. The system includes a direct-fit dash kit, SSV Works front kick panel speaker pods with Kicker 6.5-inch speakers, SSV Works cage mount speaker pods with Kicker 6.5-inch speakers, a Kicker 10-inch subwoofer and direct-fit amp mounting system with two Kicker amplifiers.

“It’s not too bad to install at all.” – Alex Klassen

IBEXX also installed its RZR XPT Stage 2 Plus clutch kit
In House

Not everything IBEXX chose for Sully came from somewhere else. IBEXX also installed its RZR XPT Stage 2 Plus clutch kit, which includes springs, weights, magnets, a clutch cover (for the primary) and helix. What makes it the “Plus” is the addition of the clutch cover, which, according to Klassen, can give your RZR five additional mph with supporting mods.

The clutch cover is spaced such that the primary shifts further, which puts the belt higher in the primary and lower in the secondary, giving the vehicle a higher gear ratio and the increased mph.

IBEXX went with a new steering wheel and passenger grab bar
Get A Grip

Inside the cockpit, IBEXX went with a new steering wheel and passenger grab bar to replace the stock ones. The company turned to DragonFire Racing for those two products, using the Suede D-Shaped UTV Steering Wheel and Navigator Bar Kit.

While the new steering wheel is sharp and adds a nice look to Sully, IBEXX went for the functionality of the lightweight aluminum steering wheel as well the the quick-release kit.

“Since it’s [the steering wheel] is removable, the driver can get in and out of the vehicle fairly easily. The bottom is flat so that also makes it easier to get in and out of.” – Alex Klassen

Klassen said one of the reasons they like the grab bar is that the handles are curved in a little so it’s more of a natural feel for the passenger vs. the straight stock bar. DragonFire does offer a straight bar as well. DragonFire also uses urethane bar mounts to help eliminate vibration from the vehicle that transfers up into the stock grab bar. It’s a 7/8-inch motocross-style bar with grips and an oversized bar pad.

The fire extinguisher is mounted to Sully with a DragonFire Fire Extinguisher Mount.

Seeing Is Believing

Sector Seven side light/mirrors by Pro Moto Billet are as tough as they are sharp looking and include LED lights that are built into the back of the mirror that shine forward, lighting up just about anything and everything in front of the vehicle. The light/mirrors are CNC machined from 6061 billet aluminum while the lights give out 14,400 lumens of light (7,200 per mirror).

“We use them to check the [irrigation] pivots. The wiring is pretty straightforward. It took about 30 minutes to install.” – Alex Klassen

30-inch Sedona Mud Rebel Tires with 15-inch rims
Rubber Side Down — Tires/Rims

IBEXX co-owner Alex Klassen said they chose to go with 30-inch Sedona Mud Rebel Tires with 15-inch rims. These 30x10R15 Mud Rebel tires feature 6-ply rated construction and have sidewall lugs to give even more traction in deep ruts or other terrain where traction is paramount.

“We wanted to get a little more aggressive tire.” – Alex Klassen

The Riot Wheels feature the “Klassen Fade.” “That helps them stand out more and gives it [the vehicle] more customization.” – Alex Klassen

Riot Wheels are made from high grade aluminum and feature a dual-drilled beadlock ring.

Keep It Clean
Off-road powersports is a dirty venture … just about anywhere you ride. So to keep it clean, IBEXX uses an ACS Particle Separator to provide cleaner air to the engine. The air comes in through the bottom of the separator into the separator which is a centrifuge of sorts. The dirt is flung out through slits on the side of the separator while the cleaner air is sucked down the center of the pipe below the separator and into the engine. This is a creation of IBEXX, which offers the separator with pipes either 3 or 20 inches long.

Waiting In The Wings

In addition to the front lightbar and belt temp gauge, IBEXX was waiting for a new windshield and roof to come in so those too could be installed. IBEXX is getting the windshield and roof through Kombustion Motorsports.
